Community Involvement
Please note: The Neighborhood Experiences Project is primarily funded by the Productive Living Board for St. Louis County Citizens with Developmental Disabilities. However, other funding is available on a limited basis to persons living outside of St. Louis County. The Rec Connect (also known as Individualized Supports) program offers individualized options for people who live in St. Louis County only.
The Neighborhood Experiences Project provides youth who have developmental disabilities, ages 13 to 21, with the support they need to obtain summer volunteer and work experiences that will help them achieve their own personal and career goals. Through the project, each young person works one-on-one with a staff partner to learn, have fun, and make a difference!
For 2008, the Neighborhood Experiences Project will run from 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday, from June 9 to August 1, 2007 (8 weeks). Cost to families is $1200 per summer. Financial assistance is available. For 2008 registration information, click here. Please contact Jenny Shult, coordinator of Leisure Services, or call 314-817-2274 for more information.
Rec Connect/ Individualized Supports provides assistance to adults to participate in community leisure, sports and recreational activities. It gives people the support they need to take that class, start that exercise program, or just get out to have some fun on a regular basis.
To register for Rec Connect/Individualized Supports, print, complete and mail our Leisure Registration Form
along with any necessary fees, and we will send you confirmation information.
