Volunteer Opportunities for Individuals

Opportunities During the Weekdays

  • Active Living Project (year-round) Assist with classes for older adults. Classes meet at various times & days of the week and include activities such as: photo club, gardening, belly dancing, legislative advocacy, poetry, coffee club, and more!
  • Capable Kids & Families Playgroup Facilitators (year-round)  Volunteers plan and lead hands-on activities such as arts and crafts, exploring music, and circle times. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in or has a background in early child education, special education, physical/occupational/speech/developmental and/or music therapy.
  • Community Integration (year-round) Provide the support someone needs to get out and participate in fun, rewarding community activities!  Help with reading, support someone who's volunteering, or go out to lunch every month
  • Office/Administrative Assistants (year-round) Help with occasional mailings or provide regular assistance with filing and other administrative work. Help with scanning and shredding.

Opportunities During the Weeknights

  • Club South Dances (1st Friday evenings, September - May)
  • Cooking for Comfort (Wednesday evenings, Oct/Nov & Jan/Feb) Help class participants learn a variety of recipes and develop useful cooking skills.
  • Family Fun Fridays (Friday evenings, year-round) Help with various fun Friday activities such as bingo, crafts, movie nights, and game nights.
  • Golf (Tuesday evenings, May - August)
  • Next Chapter Book Club (Thursday evenings, October - April) Facilitate group reading and discussions at one of our eight book clubs.
  • Painting Class (Monday evenings, May - August) Volunteers provide assistance to individuals as they develop their artistic skills through painting.
  • Sibshops Assistants (one evening a month, year-round) Sibshops are a support group for siblings of people with developmental disabilities. Get-togethers are a combination of fun, social activities and group discussions.
  • Softball (Wednesday evenings, May - July)
  • Walking Club (Thursday evenings, May – July) Group meets at parks. Exercise, stay healthy, and socialize while volunteering!

Opportunities On the Weekends

  • Basketball (Saturday mornings, December - March)
  • Bowling (Saturday mornings, September – April)
  • Club 1177 (3rd Saturday evenings, September - May)  
  • Cultural Happenings (year-round) Accompany people in small groups to one or two fun activities each month at various locations around St. Louis.
  • Soccer (Saturday mornings, September - November)
