The St. Louis Arc is committed to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families as they pursue the lives they want and deserve. A key component of support is advocacy.  The Arc has partnered with disability advocate Larry Opinsky to offer a six-part advocacy training – Arc Advocates Building Leadership for a Lifetime.

This training will help you become an advocate for yourself, the ones you care for, and all of those in the St. Louis area who cannot advocate for themselves. You will be empowered with information and motivation to help all people with disabilities succeed. Monthly topics include disability history, educational advocacy, community toolkit, building teams, future planning, and advocating for employment.

As a parent, Larry has been part of the Arc family for many years. We invite you to get to know Larry in his own words.

This series is limited to ten families, with the expectation for each person to commit to all six sessions. Meals are included and respite is available with advanced request. The training will run the second Monday of each month beginning in October. For more information or to register, contact Brianne Smith at 314-817-2216.
