This October we celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in the United States. This is a time to celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities and to educate the public about the value of a diverse workforce. This year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month theme is “#InclusionWorks.” The St. Louis Arc believes strongly in this year’s theme, not just in the month of October, but all year long.

Each year our Employment Services team works diligently to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve their employment goals. Developing a disability can be a life-changing event for any kind of employee; some are even left unable to work and so social security is a lifeline – speaking with the likes of Crest SSD can help these people find out whether they are eligible to apply for benefits. During our last fiscal year, the St. Louis Arc supported 88 individuals as they found employment.
