Keeping up with the information needed to make informed choices can be daunting and it’s easy to be overwhelmed by overload and anxiety. During our most recent strategic plan, the St. Louis Arc continued our commitment to provide families with information when they need it and in a variety of formats to meet each person’s learning style. The first step in this process is launching Open Family Center days. The Open Family Center provides opportunities each month for individuals and families to stop by and connect with Arc employees who can help you navigate and answer questions, meet other families with similar challenges, and receive specific information around a monthly theme.
The next Open Family Center will be on Tuesday, October 30. No appointment is needed. Stop by anytime between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to meet other families, get resources and problem solve. Members of the St. Louis Arc Supported Employment team will be available to answer your questions about supported employment – including navigating the Vocational Rehabilitation process, tips to develop strong employment skills, and resume reviews.
During the month of November we will highlight the topic of legal assistance. Join us on Wednesday, November 7 from 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and talk with an attorney. Melissa Riddle will be available to answer questions about wills, special needs trusts, and other legal topics. Note, while we will highlight employment, the Family Support team is available to assist you in creating an online profile for ARCH respite services, planning for a future transition, or just to have a cup of coffee and chat.
Save one or all of the dates below and look for more information in the weekly emails.
