The start of a new year brings a fresh perspective to many, and new opportunities to initiate change. It is a time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the potential in the year to come. As we reflect on 2017, we see a year that provided self-advocates and their allies many opportunities to be actively engaged in both local and national issues. The St. Louis Arc called upon our Arc Advocates to reach out to their legislators, make phone calls, and tell their stories. For those of you who responded we are extremely grateful! And now as we begin 2018, we encourage everyone to find their voice and make it heard.
We anticipate the continued need for support throughout 2018. It is vital to share your stories. Please share your successes, share your struggles, and share your needs with your local and national legislators. The fight for rights for people with disabilities is strong, but we will need our Arc Advocates to continue moving forward and making their voices heard.
Whether you are a family member, an ally, or a self-advocate, we welcome you to join us in the continued fight for independence, quality, affordable health care, and equal opportunities for people with disabilities.
