Parents Asked. We Answered.
The Nexus is the St. Louis Arc’s bold new answer to the question “what’s next for my child?” Scheduled to open in early 2027, the Nexus is an innovative bridge to independent living that capitalizes on the St. Louis Arc’s 75+ years of experience and leadership pioneering new frontiers and breaking down barriers for people with disabilities.
Live independently—but not alone.
Residents will live at The Nexus for one to three years—depending on their individual needs—and ultimately advance from The Nexus as capable, confident, and engaged members of their community.
Through everyday experiential learning and ongoing, wide-ranging supports, residents will acquire the skills and abilities needed for self-sufficiency with cooking, money management, transportation, safety, wellness, and other essential life skills in an encouraging and real-time environment.
Centrally Located
The Nexus is located at 1633 Laclede Station Road in the heart of Richmond Heights, a prime, safe location close to grocery stores, public transportation, shopping, community centers, and employment opportunities.
Rooted in Research
The Nexus is the culmination of the St. Louis Arc’s strategy to help people with disabilities further develop, refine, and practice the skills and abilities needed to live independently.
Since 2015, the St. Louis Arc has worked closely with partners at Washington University to thoughtfully create a suite of complementary, research-based programs and curriculums designed to help people with disabilities achieve greater independence. The immersive learning experience of The Nexus is based on the Nine Pillars of Independent Living, our signature framework for empowering young adults to live more independently.
