A series of events designed to inspire young adults to plan for the future!

Transition-age young adults (16-25) sometimes need extra guidance as they plan for their future. These fun Bounce Forward events provide opportunities for young adults to network with peers who are looking to find a friend, a roommate, an apartment, or who just want to start thinking about their future.  The four events will be held in various locations to help promote casual conversations and opportunities to meet others with similar interests.

Bounce Forward events will highlight programs and services the Arc offers for young adults transitioning to adulthood and living independently, such as CONNECT and Meet Ups.  The events will also offer additional resources for individuals and their families to help them ‘Bounce Forward’ into adulthood.

We recently sat down with several young adults who have had success living independently. Jimmy is an Arc participant who is living on his own. Throughout the larger discussion he shared with us his successes and his challenges. Jimmy is actively seeking more opportunities to make friends and has been attending the Arc Meet Ups in hopes of expanding his social network.

Two of our events, Saturday, June 30 and Friday, August 24, will be held at area apartment complexes. The goal of these events is for young adults and their families to be able to visualize themselves living independently. By physically being in an apartment complex it may be easier to start visualizing one day living in an apartment environment. During these events other young adults will talk about their road to independence, and Arc staff will be on-site to discuss resources and future options.

On Friday, August 3, the Arc will host the Bounce Forward event at Cool Dell Swim and Tennis Club. What better way to meet new friends than at a pool party? And as we move into fall, we are returning to STL Sandbar Sports Complex on Friday, September 28.

Younger adults and their families are encouraged to engage with the Bounce Forward events and community. Individuals, even those as young as 16, should begin to think of and discuss their future plans. Setting goals and discussing options early helps individuals and their families achieve those goals further down the road.

We hope to see you there! To RSVP to an upcoming event, log into Facebook and select an event listed below to attend.

    Hi there,
Our daughter would love and benefit from the new group “Bounce Forward”…Unfortunately, we don’t do FB! I’m hoping there is another way she can tap in to be a part of this cool social group.
